International Leadership Symposium (Canada)

12.07.2011 | Register for this 5th ELIA meeting themed "W/HERE: Contesting Knowledge in the 21st Century" taking place from 7 to 9 December in Vancouver!

Elia, The European League of Institutes of the Arts, welcomes you to partake at this international symposium located at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

Dealing with the topics "Have we ever been modern" (The Transformation of the Learning Space), "Dispersed Learning" (Knowledge and Expertise in Higher Arts Education) and "Open Source" (Leading Through Access), the symposium wants to bring together leaders from higher arts education institutions and universities across the globe for an important and timely discussion on the changing role of art education today.

Through a combination of formal presentations and round table discussions, the symposium will provide an opportunity to share strategies and models for addressing the role of the 21st Century arts and design university. Social Media will be integrated into all aspects of the programme, and through a variety of digital platforms, the event will enhance participation and exchange. Graduate students will engage delegates throughout the Symposium through a variety of activities.

For the symposium, which will be conducted in English, the Early-Bird registration deadline is 10 September and for the online registration, the deadline is 23 November.

With an eye to oversubscription, applicants are encouraged to submit their forms as early as possible. To ensure an optimal level of interaction, representation, focus and collegiality, participation will be limited to leaders and key decision makers. Delegates will be senior figures from a diverse but representative set of arts and design institutions throughout the world.
