Culture Crops – Cultural Practices in Non-Urban Territories, 23-26 October

14.10.2019 |

Culture Action Europe and Beyond the Obvious have teamed up to organize the international conference ‘Culture Crops: Cultural Practices in Non-urban Territories’. The conference will take place from October 23rd to 26th in Konstanz and spark the debate on peripheral territories.

Culture Crops is going to be a conference on the road, facilitating various thematic itineraries to the conference’s participants. The goal is to get to know a diversity of models of practice in the region of the city of Konstanz.

The visits will include debates and exchanges between related practices from other parts of Europe. They will offer an opportunity for learning and peer-to-peer exchange. The conference aims to jointly develop the Culture Action Europe advocacy approach to the culture and the arts in rural and peripheral areas to be further applied in our policy actions.

The conference will be organised in three conceptual blocks:

-Dynamics & Organisation: How does cultural work in peripheral territories take place and how is it organised?

-Urban-Rural Discrepancies: What is the difference between urban visions of the rural and what the rural is today?

-Blurred Borderlines: Where does the rural begin and where does it end?
