The Helsinki Book Fair returns this month and the city will be alive with literature lovers from across the globe from Thursday October 26th to Sunday October 29th at the Messukeskus.

The fair has become a compulsory event for Finland’s book industry professionals as it’s the biggest book fair in the country. The Helsinki Book Fair attracts hundreds of exhibitors each year and the stands will host interviews, meetings the author sessions and book signings for the fans.

Each year the fair has a theme country and last year was the Nordic Countries. This year Helsinki is particularly delighted to host the fair with its home country Finland as the theme. Finland celebrates 100 years of independence this year and accordingly the fair will focus on the very essence of Finnishness and its manifestation in literature.

Finnish authors and literature will be well represented, with works exploring the history and culture of the country from the minds of some of Finland’s’ finest and most beloved authors on show. There will also be a symposium featuring Finnish authors, politicians and futurists on the topic of the Finland of tomorrow.

The event is open from 10am to 8 pm on Thursday and Friday and 10am to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday. You can buy tickets here online.
