“This is one of the most beautiful and precious festivals of the world”, wrote German newspaper FAZ in 2016. The next edition of the Husum Piano Festival will start at August 23rd. This is your chance to find out what the buzz is all about. We highly recommend!
Since 1987 the festival takes place once a year at the wonderful castle of Husum. Artistic director is pianist Peter Froundjian. The festival presents piano works that despite their outstanding quality are not part of the classical piano repertoire. These rarities of the piano music will form ten concerts, two matinees and one exhibition in the run of the one-week festival.
The festival displays the richness of piano music besides the standard works and begins with a special presentation of the festival’s last year’s scholars together with music students of northern German universities. This is followed on the second day with the ‘Young Explores’ section which will introduce the pianists Clarisse Teo and Kotaro Fukuma.
In the run of the festival works by Benjamin Godard, Vincent D´Indy, the Italian composers Ricordi, Golinelli, Nepomuceno as well as Stanislaw Moniuszko will be performed. For the first time in the history of the festival a night session will be part of the programme, presenting works of Schnebel, Stockhausen, Liszt und Messiaen.
The Husum Piano Festival runs until August 31st. Find all the details about the programme and locations on the website.
