Making Publik - Aarhus Art Book and Zine Fest 2017

09.11.2017 |

Dokk1 in Aarhus will welcome guests from the self-publishing industry as it hosts the free 2-day festival ‘Making Publik - Aarhus Art Book and Zine Fest 2017’ starting tomorrow.

One person’s hobby is another’s rebellion and this philosophy can certainly be applied to the act of self publishing. The industry still has a reputation for attracting ‘radical types’ despite the rise of entrepreneurism in recent years. Many authors and makers of zines, self-publish to take control back over the process for themselves and have a greater investment both personally and financially in the production of their work.

Making Publik focuses on putting the spotlight on such works and celebrates the collaborative potential that comes at the intersection between art and literature. The programme will feature a range of talks and readings featuring presenters from across Europe including Denmark, Poland, Norway, Belgium, Spain, and the UK. There will also be a market place (only Saturday) and for those new to the concept – a workshop space for publishing your own work.

The festival will be opened on Friday 10th at 4pm. An exhibition ‘Making Public’ will run for both days of the festival. The closing event on Saturday evening will be a long table dinner and a DJ lead after party.

The Aarhus Art Book and Zine Fest will be held on Friday November 10th and Saturday November 11th at Dokk1 in Aarhus, Denmark. The festival is organised by ABZ and the programme is available here on the ABZ website. You can also find more information on their Facebook page. Entry is free and places are limited so you can reserve tickets here online at Eventbrite.
