XV UBC General Conference in Kaunas, October 15th – 18th

Kaunas will host this year’s General Conference of the Union of Baltic Cities. The conference will take place from October 15th – 18th. Representatives will gather to discuss the central topic: ‘Building an inclusive and resident-focused city. The Baltic Way’. Registration is open until October 1st.

The conference website has all the details on the programme and information on the registration. Themes of the conference include among others ‘Inclusive Cities’ as well as ‘Culture as Catalyst for Cities Development’.

As in previous there will be a strong involvement of the Baltic youth. To stress the importance of the inclusion of younger generations, this time there will not be a separate conference for youth, but they will take as speakers and panelists in the main conference. “This is very important if we wish to truly involve young people in our organization, work and societies”, states Carsten Adamsen, Chair of the UBC Youthful Cities Commission on the UBC website.

Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC) is the leading network of cities in the Baltic Sea Region with around 100 Member Cities from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia and Sweden. It was founded in 1991 in Gdańsk where its main secretariat is located. UBC is a voluntary, proactive network, aiming to mobilize the shared potential of its member cities.

Its annual conference will take place from October 15th – 18th in Kaunus.  Registration is open until October 1st.
