For the jubilee, the organizers have elaborated on the idea to replay past performances. A big specialty is the opening. 25 years ago, Jambirds initiated the festival with their performance, and they are doing it again this year. Being an unknown band in 1990, two band members of Jambirds have gained world-wide attention during the last 25 years.
But there is also “current” prominence enriching the festival. Lurrie Bell is nominated five times for the Blues Music Award, and will perform at the festival for the very first time. Cash Box Kings, also nominated for the BMA, and Shakura S’Aida are also part of the programme.
Additional guests include the Boogie Boys Quartet from Poland featuring John Clifton, the Ole Frimer Band from Denmark, the Latvian Blues Band featuring Shanna Waterstown, Mike Andersen Duo and King King.
Like in the past episodes, the festival presents a “Nightfestival” that will take place on May 16 and 17 after the regular program has ended. It features special concerts, sessions and drinks at the “Brauhaus”. A photo exhibition opens on May 14 and accompanies the regular festival events.
Please note that the whole festival is for free.
