The Association of European Cities and Regions for Culture Les Rencontres organizes the second edition of the European Campus of Local and Regional Authorities for Culture which will be held from 18 to 22 September 2013 in Tampere.

The theme of the second edition of the European Campus will be Culture and Social Innovation. The focus of the Campus will be on the strengths of Finland in the fields of education, creativity and innovation, quality of life, citizens’ participation, social cohesion, among other positive facets in relationship with the cultural policies of Finnish local and regional authorities, and putting these dimensions in a European perspective.

The theoretical and practical analysis of these policies will be associated with the:

  • reflection axis of the European Campus, which is the contribution of local and regional cultural policies in the Europe 2020 strategy, and
  • promotion of cultural cooperation between local and regional authorities in Europe

 

Also cultural policies and the best practices of Tampere will be featured and discussed in order to allow the participants from all over Europe to explore potential collaborations in the cultural field with the major city players of Tampere.
