19.01.2011 |

The opening event taking place in Flensburg (Germany) is the official start of the newly accredited ARS BALTICA project CONNECTING.

The ARS BALTICA granted CONNECTING is a travelling exhibition that is planned together with the art and craft associations of Schleswig-Holstein (Germany) and its partner regions in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. The art works will be shown in Germany and in the Nordic countries in 2011/2012. The official start of the exhibition project will be on Sunday, 13 February 2011 with an opening ceremony in Flensburg (northern Germany).

40 artists will present their newest artistic oeuvre together in the five countries. They will engage in an intensive dialogue on both artistic formal languages and concepts of arts and crafts in the different countries.

CONNECTING is founded on the idea of international cooperation on the fields of art exchange, cultural administration, funding and artists direct involvement.

In 2006, the project was initiated by a group of professional artists from the art and craft association, Berufsverband Kunsthandwerk, in Schleswig-Holstein (Germany) by organising and producing a series of eight bilateral partnership exhibitions. All exhibits have been shown both in Schleswig-Holstein and in the corresponding regions.

Start and opening of the event: 13 February 2011 at Museumsberg, Flensburg (Germany)

Museumsberg Flensburg, Flensburg (Germany): 13 February to 8 May 2011
