Third Space is well known for its ethos of disrupting the status quo. The Finnish artistic collective aims to transcend preconceived notions of boundaries and create deep connections through the works it chooses to feature. Works featured include sound, visual and performance art. Much of the collective’s programme focuses on collaborations in the form of workshops, lectures, installations, hacking events and exhibitions such as FemF Art x. The subject of movement is open to wide interpretation, from the physical act to the term in reference to activism.
In October of this year Cable Factory featured the original FemF Art and this exhibition is intended as an extension of that, screening works from racialized artists from Finland, the Nordic region and beyond. Works are by and about the artists and all run for between 1 and 30 minutes duration.
FemF ART x is curated by Ramina Habibollah & Nayab Ikram. Featured artists include Carmen Baltzar, Crystal Z Campbell, Diana Soria Hernandez, Dzamil Kamanger, Jay Mar Albaos, Lolo Arziki, Mahoyo, Müge Yildiz, Nathalie Anguezomo Mba Bikoro, Razan Abou Askar, Saadia Hussain, Sepideh Rahaa and Shieko Reto
Opening night of the exhibition will be held on Friday 15th December from 6pm until 9pm. The full programme can be viewed here online. FemF ART x will run from Friday 15th of December until Wednesday 20th December 2017 at Third Space in Helsinki, Finland.
"Culture includes not only culture and arts, but also the way of life and system of values. In this sense culture becomes the major power for intellectual renewal and human perfection." (European Council Report on European Cultural Policy)
