Kuopoi Dance Festival in Finland is celebrating its 50thanniversary with an exciting line-up. One of the highlights will be an anniversary gala with a flamboyant mix of different dance styles, ranging from flamenco, traditional as well as contemporary dance to classical ballet.
The gala will be performed by the Finnish traditional group Pelmakat, the Spanish flamenco artists Mariana Collado and Carlos Chamorro and the Sydney Dance Company amongst others.
The festival is the last of the 17-year-tenure of Artistic Director Jorma Uotinen and the festival will say goodbye with an exhilarating Au revoir-gala. One of the evening highlights of the gala will be Jorma Uotinen’s choreography Jord performed by the Finnish National Ballet. The festival will also welcome the new Artistic Director Riku Lehtopolku.
Further highlights are performances by the Ballet School of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet at the Kuopio Music Centre, by Spanish group Iron Skulls Co as well as interactive events such as a new hybrid project.
