Landskrona Foto Festival

04.09.2017 |

The Landskrona Foto Festival has become one of Scandinavia’s most important photographic events and the countdown is on for the 2017 festival which starts this Friday in Landskrona, Sweden, running through until Sept 17th.

The Landskrona Foto Festival was launched just 5 years ago and in that time, has established a solid reputation as the pre-eminent festival showcasing Scandinavian photography. Local and intenrationa photographers will come together, participating in a programme that features more than 40 events, including exhibitions, artist talks and workshops. Photographers can also get their portfolios reviewed and the successful Photobook Days returns – a fair that welcomes publishers from across the globe.

The festival is co-curated this year by Christian Caujolle and Jenny Nordquist. Christian is an esteemed author and curator and Landskrona local Jenny is a photographer, teacher and gallery owner. Their passion for the event comes through in their comments in this year’s curator’s message. “Our ambition is that Landskrona becomes the capital of photography in Scandinavia. We want photography to manifest itself in public spaces, from shop windows to parks and old buildings, and become a perceptible part of experiencing the city” said the co-curators. “We want artistic expressions to merge and complement each other; hence the festival is not restrained by a theme. However current issues like identity, reality and our relationship with nature run across the program.”

Highlights of the programme include walk and talk guided tours of their exhibitions, by the artist, book releases and photobook signings, open studio sessions and demos of the techniques and processes and the presentations of numerous awards and prizes.

The Landskrona Foto Festival runs from Friday the 8th to Sunday the 17th of September, 2017. Opening hours vary so check the website for details. Festival passes are available for the day or the duration of the festival and can be bought here online. The festical will be held at various locations around Landskrona. The programme is available here on the website in English and Swedish.
