The residency programme is a key element in PACT Zollverein's profile as an Artists' House supporting lively exchange between practice and theory. The next residency period will run mid August to mid December 2021.
Until 25 February 2021 artists and groups of a maximum of four can apply for the residency. The residency brings along studio space, local accommodation, a weekly grant allowance, travel costs and technical equipment as well as technical support. The residency has a minimum duration of four weeks. The residents may choose to take advantage of various kinds of production support such as dramaturgy, technical assistance, project management as well as press and publicity.
Situated in Essen (Germany) the PACT Zollverein boasts a nationwide unique working structure which consolidates three key areas of activity addressing regional, national and international social and cultural interests which all contribute to the standing and appreciation of dance and performance as independent art forms. It is a model cultural institution conceived and funded by the region. The partnership, unique in NRW, resourcefully combines flexible project funding with institutional assets. The house and its personnel are financed by the Ministry for Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the City of Essen.
"Culture includes not only culture and arts, but also the way of life and system of values. In this sense culture becomes the major power for intellectual renewal and human perfection." (European Council Report on European Cultural Policy)
