The residency program is developed to encourage the creative process and allow young artists to undertake focused experimentation and research along with becoming acquainted with the Latvian performing arts scene. Residency offers an opportunity to work on artistic project development during the research phase for 4 weeks (20.07.–16.08.2020 and 24.08–20.09.2020). There will be selected in a total of two individual artists or artistic groups (max 4 participants).
The residency offers accommodation, reimbursement of travel expenses, a fee, access to working studios and a performing space.
Theatre Gertrudes ielas teatris is located at Gertrudes street 101a, in a courtyard house. It was built in 1954 to host Repair and Building Administration No. 2. For now, the hall at Gertrudes street 101a has gone from hosting events to becoming one of the most influential independent theatres in Latvia and affecting change in the country’s theatre system. In this time GIT has produced and co-produced 48 new productions and held guest performances in 17 countries.
