OpenART is held outdoors in the Örebro city centre and invites the public to enjoy the works day and night over a twelve week period in the summer of 2019. The exhibition aims to include a diverse range of works from professional contemporary artists of all backgrounds, mediums and genres.
OpenART makes all kinds of art accessible to a wide audience. By presenting unconventional large scale works in the public space, it makes art accessible to everyone, with no galleries to enter and no intimidating thresholds to be crossed.
Artists from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply and submissions can include existing works or new ideas not yet developed which could be created exclusively for the exhibition. Works that challenge the notion of what public art in the urban space can be are of particular interest.
Successful submissions will receive artist support in the form of reimbursement for travel and accommodation as well as a €1000 stipend.
OpenART will be held in the summer of 2019 and the call for submissions to participate is now open. You can read more about the exhibition on the OpenART Biennale website. Applications can be submitted here and must be received by Tuesday 15th May 2018.
"Culture includes not only culture and arts, but also the way of life and system of values. In this sense culture becomes the major power for intellectual renewal and human perfection." (European Council Report on European Cultural Policy)
