The ARS BALTICA accredited Oulu Film Festival has ended. From 15 to 21 November 2010, there have been multitudinous competitions in different categories. Here are the winning films listed for you:
The Children's Jury prize Kaleva for the best film went to Christian Ditter's The Crocodiles Strike Back (Germany, 2010). The comments of the Children's jury: "We find the winning film lively and humorous and it has enough action. Suspense is held from the beginning to the end of the film, and the actors are good."
As the second best film the jury chose another German film, Summertime Blues (2009) and the third best is Birger Larsen's Superbrother (Denmark, 2009).
The CIFEJ jury went, again, to Birger Larsen's film Superbrother "because it has a strong story, good acting, a well combined level of fantasy and reality and it affirms strongly that power and responsibility must always go together".
The Church Media Foundation's Prize went to Iiris Härmä’s documentary Look at me (Finland, 2010) because it "is in the essence of Christian values without preaching or teaching".
The Little Bear Award went to the Finnish director Mari Rantasila "who during the year served with distinction as children's film maker in Finland".
"Culture includes not only culture and arts, but also the way of life and system of values. In this sense culture becomes the major power for intellectual renewal and human perfection." (European Council Report on European Cultural Policy)
