Running until 2014, the process will include a comprehensive mapping exercise and a consultation process on the strategic role of culture in EU external relations which will converge into a final conference where conclusions and recommendations will be made regarding a strategic approach to mobilizing the potential of culture in EU external relations.
The project should contribute to formulating recommendations for a strategy on culture in EU external relations.
The project has been awarded to a consortium led by the Goethe Institut and including the following members: the British Council, the Danish Cultural Institute, the European Cultural Foundation, Institut Français, Institut fur Auslandsbeziehungen (IFA), KEA European Affairs and the Center for Fine Arts (Bozar).
"Culture includes not only culture and arts, but also the way of life and system of values. In this sense culture becomes the major power for intellectual renewal and human perfection." (European Council Report on European Cultural Policy)
