The annual Reykjavik Jazz Festival is a esteemed event on the jazz scene. The festival hosts performances in a variety of styles, from contemporary jazz and the avant-garde to Latin jazz, gospel and big bands. It aims to bring renowned international Jazz players to the Icelandic music scene as well as to present Iceland’s top Jazz musicians to the International one.
This year's festival will be opened on 29 August by a performance of the young up-and-coming jazz vocalists Rebekka Blöndal and Marína Ósk who will come together on stage for the first time. Due to travel restrictions and complications as a result of Covid-19 the main focus of the 30th anniversary of Reykjavík Jazz Festival will be on Icelandic jazz music.
The Reykjavík Jazz Festival is organized by the FIH Jazz Department, assisted by FIH cultural fund, The City of Reykjavik and the State Fund for Music.
