The role of culture in EU external relations

With the aim to raise awareness of the action "Culture in EU external relation" and to strengthen the debate the consortium is searching for the opinions of civil society, culture institutions, artists, public bodies and individuals.

In 2012, the European Commission tasked a consortium of 8 members, led by the Goethe Institute Brussels, to carry out the preparatory action "Culture in EU external relations" with the purpose to facilitate an on-going process of research, exchange of knowledge and support policy reflection in strengthening the role of culture in external relations.

The particular action, to formulate recommendations for a strategy on culture in EU external relations on the basis of the comprehensive mapping exercise and consultation process, will run until mid-2014 along an online discussion, which will be summed up at a conference in April 2014.

Here you can watch and hear the team leader Yudhishthir Raj Isar, Professor of Cultural Policy Studies, shortly explaining the aim and purpose of the Preparatory Action.
