THINK “FUTURE” – DO NOW! Conference :: 30 March – 1 April 2007 in Visby, Gotland

Children in focus – lectures, panel debates, workshops and dialogue seminars will take place in the Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators in Visby in order to promote a good quality children culture within the Baltic Sea States, Belarus and Ukraine.
Exchange of experiences, spreading most efficient working methods and development of the children culture among networks and institutions for children’s and youth culture as well as producers, researchers, teachers, politicians and civil servants – this is what the initiator of the conference, Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs wants to put in focus during the Swedish Presidency in the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS).
The conference aims to encourage cross-border meetings and wide discussions concerning pedagogical aspects within literature and cultural heritage.
The wide scope of the conference’s interests can be seen in the workshops’ topics:
- publishing for children culture,
- cultural policy concerning children’s culture,
- words-in-use (children literature as a working field),
- history-in-use,
- image and words,
- drama-in-practise alt. drama for children.

Main organisers: Swedish Arts Council, Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators
Co-operation: National Heritage Board, International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY).
The deadline for sending registration forms is 5 March.
A possibility to choose a workshop will be provided in beforehand.
The working language of the conference is English, but it will also be translated into Russian.
