Focus on Kaliningrad :: Innovative Strategies for Local Development - Capacity Building for Cultural Organisations in the Kaliningrad Region

The project “Innovative Strategies for Local Development: Capacity Building for Cultural Institutions in the Kaliningrad Region” is a part of the Capacity Development programme implemented by the European Cultural Foundation. The project’s Russian part is being prepared together with the Agency for Support of Cultural Initiatives Tranzit.
Within the days of 9-11 February the another edition of cultural management training and strategic advice to 25 cultural NGOs and public institutions in the Kaliningrad Region took place. It also assists strategic local policy development within local cultural administrations.
Among the objectives of the project organisers mention:
-Increasing and professionalising the quantitative and qualitative level of cultural life and heritage in the Kaliningrad Region
-Promoting democratisation of local decision-making processes in the field of culture and heritage protection/development
-Sustainable strengthening of the entire cultural sector in the Kaliningrad region (NGOs, public institutions, cultural enterprises and local administrations)
-Establishing representative organisations of the independent/civic cultural organisations in the Kaliningrad Region
During the seminar in Kaliningrad ARS BALTICA was also represented: Ms Lidia Makowska (ARS BALTICA Secretariat Co-ordinator and NGO sector expert) spoke about the current trends and effective instruments of the international cultural cooperation in relation to the Baltic Europe as well as about the issues connected to networking and funding for NGOs.
