ART SYMPOSIUM VALMIERA 2007 :: 22-28 July, Valmiera, Latvia

Since 2005 Valmiera City Council and the Art Gallery Laipa invite artists of different disciplines to take part in the Contemporary Art Symposium Valmiera.
The main aim of the event is to support and develop the process of making the contemporary art issues more comprehensible and clear for the wide audience.
The organisers plan to have artists’ presentations, small concerts, theatre experiments and discussions included in the symposium programme. The culmination of these activities will be summed up by the Grand Finale on the 28th of July in the City Square. 
The organisers are looking forward to receiving applications from creative people in visual arts(painting, photography, video art, installation, theatre improvisation and other kinds of media).
PRACTICAL INFO
The organisers cover:
- the costs of accommodation (full board)
- technical help and working conditions for project realisation (studio for painters and graphic artists, possibilities for video paste-up, public environment for project realisation etc.)
- creative work presentation possibilities
- publication on the Symposium homepage and in a catalogue 
Other costs (including the travel to/from Valmiera and costs of materials) should be covered by the participants.
Additionally, participating artists will be asked to donate some of the works they created during the symposium to the community of Valmiera.
In order to apply, please send the Application Form together with the CV, 5 photos of recent works (title, measures, year, technique should be specified), URL or DVD (up to 10 min), personal photo (preferable in working process) for publicity of the workshop, project’s conception and realisation description.

The deadline for sending applications is 15 March 2007.
Participants chosen in tender procedure will be informed about he results personally by 10 April, 2007.
