EXPLORING TERRITORIES :: Trans Europe Halles meeting, 18 May, Vilnius, Lithuania

For the first time in the history of Trans Europe Halles (TEH) the network’s meeting will take place in one of the Baltic Sea states. This is why the discussions will focus on the issue of the independent cultural scene in Lithuania. Additionally, the aim of the meeting is to highlight the situation of the emerging in Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia cultural centres and organisations.
To the group of the key speakers of the meeting the organisers invited several high profile speakers from Lithuania as well as international speakers who shall address the current cultural policy in the country. A round table discussion with representatives of NGOs from Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia will be moderated by Torsten Schaenler, Councellor for cultural affairs at the Embassy of Sweden.
The meeting will be hosted by a long term TEH member, Arts Printing House in Vilnius.
Before the meeting in Vilnius, the representatives of the Nordic and Baltic TEH member countries will gather at the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania to talk about possible future co-operation. This discussion will be moderated by Pål Steigan, the chairman of board at Parkteatret, Oslo and managed by Emma Ernsth, project manager for the Trans Nordic Project. Chris Torch from Intercult, Stockholm is invited as a speaker. The meeting will take place 16the May.
TEH has today 43 members and 10 friend organisations from 25 European countries. During the meeting there will be an open space for project exchange, networking and a discussion of the future priorities.
