FOCUS ON THEATRE :: King Fairy Tale International Theatre Festival, 22-27 April 2007, Velikiy Novgorod, Russia

The 9th edition of The King Fairy Tale International Theatre Festival will take place in Velikiy Novgorod, Russia on 22-27 April 2007. The Festival was founded in 1992 and soon after became a platform for research, innovations and experiments in the genre of fairy tale, legend and myth. The Festival presents new theatre productions based on myth and fairy tale of theatre disciplines as:
- drama,
- puppetry,
- movement,
- contemporary dance and other.
The festival aims to bring the high quality artistic works for young audience and adults.
This year The King Fairy Tale Festival will present new productions, based on wide range of stories from Bible myths to folk epos and Shakespeare, from Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, France, Germany, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, South Korea, Switzerland and Russia.
The Festival’s programme includes:
- Conference for managers of international theatre festivals
- Discussions and workshops for young theatre critics Young critics as theatre future
- Presentation of cultural programme SWISS LOOK with the support of General Consulate of Switzerland in Saint-Petersburg and funded by PRO HELVETIA
- Work of International Jury (theatre specialists from Germany, Latvia, Sweden and Russia)
- Meeting of festivals, where the works of theatres that organise their own festivals will be presented.
- Performance of Novgorod Drama Theatre by letter of Dostoevsky’s wife will present Dostoevskiy International Theatre festival, which takes place every year in Staray Russa, city near Velikiy Novgorod, on native place of great Russian writer.
- Actors' workshop by Valery Zinoviev (from the Theatre of Generation) with actors-students of Novgorod State University (2 courses)
