Project “Balticness” is a year long series of public events taking place in all 11 Baltic Sea region capital cities starting in Tallinn, then moving to Helsinki – Saint Petersburg – Stockholm Oslo – Reykjavik – Copenhagen – Berlin –Warsaw – Vilnius and ending in Riga. The goal is to promote the notion of the Baltic Sea Region, ‘Balticness’ and the Baltic Sea as the life artery for the people living around it. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Latvian presidency in the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) in 2007/2008
Project “Balticness” is a story about the Baltic Sea Region – a home for 11 nations and more than 50 million inhabitants. It has taken roots on the shores of the Baltic Sea and is interlinked by common culture. The Baltic Sea Region is ‘a top of Europe’ not only geographically, but also economically and symbolically being the most dynamic, innovative, competitive and sustainable region both in Europe and in the World.

1. Round table discussion seminar
Topic: “The Environmental standing of the Baltic Sea: from political proposal to practical project".
The seminar will be held on on March 17, 10:00 - 14:30, at Centre for Baltic Sea Region Studies, University of Copenhagen, Øster Farimagsgade 5, Entrance E, Building 4, Room 4.2.24.
2. Photo exhibition
Topic: “...Where the Baltic Sea and People Meet…” opening on March 17, at 16:30 at The Royal Library, Søren Kierkegaards Plads 1, Copenhagen;
3. Jazz concert
featuring Riga Groove Electro and guest from Denmark - Gianni Bardaro on March 17, at 20:30 at the Copenhagen Jazz House, Niels Hemmingsens Gade 10, Copenhagen (free of charge).
