Children's Summer Festival - Vekara-Varkaus :: Finland, 9-15 June 2008

The Festival is organised by Varkaus Cultural Services Office and offers many opportunities to involve the whole family. During the Vekara-Varkaus week children will wander on the streets of Varkaus to participate in plenty exciting events prepared especially for them.
The opening of the Festival with entertainment will take place on 9 June at 10 a.m. Later this day one can take part in song contest for children and young people. Other contests are also planned during the week – all who recite, tell stories and nursery rhymes can participate. Dance performances of little children and talented teenagers and an outdoor concert will attract the audience.
Both children and their families will have an opportunity to spend some time together by joining workshops on among others sand sculpting, clay moulding, fishing and learning manual skills.
During the Festival the Lasten LukuVarkaus children´s literature award will be given to the best children’s book selected by children’s jury. The award of 3500 Euro was established by Stora Enso Plc and the Town of Varkaus.
