Zentropa's Limboland is an educational, research and integration project that brings up issues such as diversity in modern Nordic Society. Among others it consists of workshops involving young people and teachers in order to encourage dialogue and debate already at junior school level. The project will culminate next year in a 90-minute film by Jeremy Weller and Anders August featuring young refugees and immigrants facing integration and social problems.
Limboland has been granted 450,000 DKK by the board of the Nordic Cultural Fund. Its chairman Frode Sørensen said ‘’One of the Cultural Fund’s strengths is that it paves the way for cultural co-operation between the Nordic countries, co-operation which often actively involves other countries from outside the Region. When the board is evaluating applications it pays due attention to the fact that some activities are run by what I will call top full-time cultural pros, while others are run by ‘energetic firebrands’, volunteers who want to strengthen Nordic culture in their particular areas, which are often outside the capital cities. The Nordic Cultural Fund is the place where all applications are equally welcome no matter what the activity’s scope and who has drawn up the application.”
