A number of cultural projects involving co-operation with partners from several Nordic countries were granted 7.4 million DKK by the Board of the Nordic Culture Fund. Its chairman - Frode Sørensen was happy to announce that several of them make a connection between many new Nordic citizens which is a cause for optimism.
During a special meeting on 5 May the members of the Nordic Culture Fund discussed the ‘New Nordic citizens in Nordic cultural co-operation’. It was decided that the ethnic diversity in the Nordic countries should be reflected in the activities of the fund to a higher degree. Many projects working with diversity in the modern Nordic Region will be presented in the online news.
The main issue that was brought up during the first day of the Board meeting was next year’s budget as there have been cutbacks in the funding for the Nordic Culture Fund. The General Secretary of the Nordic Council of Ministers’, Halldór Ásgrímsson was present during the meeting.
It was also agreed that the Nordic Council of Ministers should commit to the challenges of globalisation.
