Album for Gdańsk 2008 - photo contest
(2008 07 24 22:02)
The 1st International Photo Contest is organised by The National Museum of Gdansk – The Gdansk Gallery of Photography in cooperation with The Gdansk City Council and The Gdansk Modern Art Centre “Laznia”. It is the first out of four contests planned before EURO 2012. The winning images are going to be published in a photography album and displayed at an exhibition during Euro 2012.
The main aim of the contest is to promote the city as a place that has long inspired artists, architects, and scientists as well as provide an up-to-date photographer’s outlook on Gdansk. The contestants should try to capture the city fabric – the inhabitants of the city, the houses, and the city’s social phenomena – and use this fabric as background for their artistic discoveries.
The contest is open for amateur and professional photographers from Poland and from abroad, there is a free choice of thechnique and each contestant may submit a maximum of ten photographic prints. The entries for the competition should be submitted no later than October 20, 2008. Winners will be announced on the Gallery’s website, at the beginning of November 2008. Prizes will be distributed in December 2008 at the opening of the post-contest exhibition.
