'Red Eye Effect. Polish photography of the 21st century', till 7 September 2008, Warsaw
(2008 08 22 11:19)
The photographic exhibition which takes place in the Centre for Contemporary Art in Ujazdowski Castle presents a wide spectrum of works by Polish photographers and situates their achievements in the context of changes and development in visual arts in Poland: transition from the analogue to digital techniques, expansion of electronic media and illustated press. The exhibition shows the most valuable works by acknowledged artists: Maurycy Gomulicki and Aneta Grzeszykowska, as well as unknown photographs by Wilhelm Sasnal, Zbigniew Rogalski and Agnieszka Brzeżańska. It includes additionally controversial press images, amateur photographs, and internet snaps, which complete the presentation of photography redefinition in the 21st century.
The project will be accompanied by Homeless Gallery/ Galeria Bezdomna, held in the Ujazdowski Castle on 23.8 – 31.8.2008. The idea of the Homeless Gallery is to create the photo exhibition spontaneously wherever and whenever the venue is available, often for 2 – 3 days only and frequently in the abandoned space. Anyone can come and hung up their works and there's no criteria of artistic proficiency, subject, technique or size. This way the Gallery makes it possible for all artists, amateur or professional, to present their work.
