International design seminar 'Folk Futures', 30 September 2008 :: Sandnes, Norway
(2008 09 04 10:20)
The seminar organised by Li Edelkoort is a part of the exhibition A World of Folk, curated also by this Dutch trend analyst. The exhibition presents a global folk trend in arts, crafts and designs: furniture, tableware, toys, textiles, knitting, embroidery, food and fashion, graphic design, ceramics, metal works and music. Nowadays many designers draw their inspiration from folk traditions, which is reflected in current production, marketing and sales strategies.
A growing number of people, attached to modern technology on regular basis, long to live closer to nature, ecologically, going back to the roots also in music and design. Therefore the one-day seminar will host accomplished international designers, who will debate on the fusion of handicrafts and technology in the future.
Participants of the seminar: artists, designers, shop-keepers, students, artisans and the public in general are all invited to join other accompanying events, which will include a series of concerts, dance performances, performance art, seminars and workshops.
