Baltic Sea Forum for Documentaries :: 3-7 September, Riga

The forum is a market of ideas for documentary films with international potential, it serves as a platform for meeting, where documentaries' directors can show their works to media representatives and find funding for their projects. Representatives of almost 20 major European television companies and films support foundations have been invited to the forum. 25 film producers from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Sweden, France and Germany will present their documentary film projects for the evaluation by the television channel's experts.
During the forum, a number of films is also presented for public viewing. Film programme "Is it easy to be different?" presents documentaries, created in the past two years time, which have caused debates around the world because of their themes dealing with topical social and political issues. Through individual life stories, the films of the forum encourage people to think on a wider social, historical and political perspective, as well as to consider each individual's capacity to influence his or her own life and also important historical events.
During the Baltic Sea Forum, the audience will have an opportunity to meet with several film directors and, after film screenings, to participate in discussions.
The Baltic Sea Forum is organized by the National Cinema Center, in cooperation with "MEDIA Desk Latvija", Latvian Cinema Producers Association and "European Documentary Network" .
