Lithuanian Art '08: Photography, An introductory platform of the X Baltic Triennial of International Art 2009: Urban Stories.
The Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius presents achievements of contemporary Lithuanian art every two years. The year 2008 focuses on photography. Seven curators, over 100 artists and Lithuanian photo-journalists have created an enormous multi-part exhibition showing a wide spectrum of photographs: from the 1960s till now. Three generations of photo artists present a number of genres and concepts.
The exhibition is composed of the following expositions: The Golden Decade of the Magazine "Nemunas" 1967–1977 (photographs from the visually accomplished art and literature magazine); Test: 11 vs 1 (presentation of the 'milestones' in Lithuanian photography); Passion for the City (documentary images); Vilnius' Metro (inspired by the images on subway walls in big cities); Expanding the image into conversation (consisting also of discussions with the audience); Street Photography; and two solo expositions: Dainius Liškevičius: X-ray; Artūras Raila: Power of the Earth. Mythological Vilnius.
The exhibition 'Lithuanian Art '08: Photography, An introductory platform of the X Baltic Triennial of International Art 2009: Urban Stories' is supported by www.culturelive.lt
