Dialogue Baltic-Balkans: : October 3 – November 2, 2008, Szczecin

The National Museum in Szczecin kindly invites to the international exhibition of contemporary art and video 'The Baltic / The Balcans'.
The program of the opening night starts on October 3 at 4 pm in the Museum of Contemporary Art division in Staromłyńska 1 and features meetings with curators and presentations of the video programs from the Baltic and the Balcans.
First "Serving the System", program prepared by Real Artel, Estonian curator and art crictic, which will present 6 films made by the Baltic authors: "Vacuum" by Adel Abidin (Finland);
"3 images of life and time" by Minna Hint (Estonia); "Mulgi Travels" by Flo Kasearu (Estonia); "Fast art" by R.E.P. group (Ukraine) and two films by Laura Stasuilyte (Lithuania) "The Gala" and "The Landing".
Then "My-Your Balcans: history, stories and pictures of reality", the program from the Balcans, prepared by a Greek curator and artistic director of MIR festival in Athens Christiana Galanopoulou will show 13 short films from Romania, Hungary, Italy, Greece, Serbia, Albania, Turkey and Slovenia.
The third part of this huge Baltic/ Balcan project will start on October 3 at 7 pm. The exhibition "Restaging the Past" will host works by international artists from the Baltic and Balcan countries. The exhibition aims at re-interpreting the historic experience common for most of the countries taking part in the project, namely communism and social realism.
"Restaging the Past" / Dialogue Baltic-Balkans is a project of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Szczecin in cooperation with apollonia european art exchanges in Starsbourgu and artBox.gr in Thessaloniki within the program ArtVenture –Visual Art Network.
