Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), 13 Nov. – 7 Dec. 2008 :: Estonia
(2008 12 04 14:40)
Pimedate Ööde Filmifestival (PÖFF) is a big annual film festival taking place in Estonia. Three weeks of screenings in 15 cinemas in 6 Estonian towns result in presentations of more than 400 films of various genres, length, budgets and directors (from acclaimed professionals to film students and amateurs) from all over the world.
The Festival is composed of a number of events and film competitions, with the main event: International Competition EurAsia (with 18 films from eg. Japan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Russia, Ireland, Norway, South Korea, Iran and Indonesia, which have had their premieres mostly in the second half of 2008) or the Tridens Baltic Feature Film Competition.
The jury of the Tridens Baltic Feature Film Competition will watch this year a selection of 13 productions: docummentaries, animated films and full-length feature films from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The competition creates an opportunity to examine the film production from the Baltic countries, especially in the situation when the films created 'across the border' are so rarely screened in Estonia.
Additionally, the Baltic Event Co-Production Market takes place within the frames of the PÖFF from November 30 to December 3 in Tallin. Filmmakers and producers from the Baltic countries have an opportunity to initiate and discuss cooperation possibilities during one-to-one meetings and networking.
