The Conference will be organized by the Cultural Policy unit of Jyväskylä University in cooperation with Cupore (Foundation for Cultural Policy Research), Arts Council of Finland and the Ministry of Education. Similar conferences on cultural policy research have been already organized in Århus (2003), Borås (2005), and Bø (2007). Nordic conferences on Cultural Policy will be biannually organized in rotation with the with the International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR).
The theme of the conference is "Power & Ethics in Cultural Policy". The participants will discuss various national variations of the Nordic model of cultural policy. The four thematic dimensions include: the relationship between cultural policy and global social, economic, political, and environmental development; the relationship between power and ethics and cultural policy in policy strategies; the relationship between power and ethics in the context of cultural heritage and access to cultural services, paying specific attention to local and regional cultural policy; and finally, power and individual ethics, cultural identity, and the question of artistic practices.
The organizers call for papers from cultural policy researchers and presentations from PhD and Master´s students of Cultural Policy. Detailed guidelines for abstract submission and registration can be found on the conference website
