Nordic Culture Forum in Berlin

The Forum is Nordic Council of Ministers' dialogue tool and a meeting place for discussions with the culture field in the region. In 2009, four Culture Forums have been arranged. Nordic Culture Forum in Berlin was part of the discussion on globalisation and had international profiling of Nordic culture as a theme.

 

The forum took place in the joint Nordic embassies in Berlin on 23 and 24 November 2009. Around 100 artists and culture professionals, politicians and administrators took part in the event opened by the Icelandic minister of culture Katrin Jakobsdóttir.

 

Chris Torch, the moderator conluded that joint efforts between different art and culture sectors, a dialogue between artists and politicians as well as the new ingredients brought by migration, can result in new economic opportunities and in making culture more visible.

 

It is possible to see and listen to the discussions in Berlin through the video archive. Also a slideshow including photos from the the plenary session, roundtable discussions, evening event and the concept "New Nordic food", presented by cooks from Iceland, Denmark and the embassies in Berlin has been prepared.
