Arctic Frontiers Conference and the Northern Lights Festival, 24 January - 5 February 2010, Tromsø, Norway

Tromsø called "the gateway to the Arctic" is the largest town in the north of Norway and is situated at the Tromsøya Peninsula, beyond the Arctic Circle. The turn of January and February is the time when each year, after two months of polar darkness, the sun returns to the region.
The festival's name is a reference to the famous northern lights, or aurora borealis. Its programme includes no less than seven Chopin concerts and below are some of the events to be expected:
Swedish cello player Sanna Anderson, will perform one competition by Fryderyk Chopin, with piano accompaniment.
Fryderyk Chopin's songs. The performers: Iwona Tober (soprano), Tadeusz Szlenkier (tenor), Leszek Świdziński (tenor), Joanna Ławrynowicz (piano).
Piano trio in G minor Op. 8. The performers: Håkon Bilsbak (violin) and Håvard Bilsbak (cello) from the Tromsø Chamber Orchestra and professor Sergei Osadchuk (piano) from the Conservatory of Music in Tromsø.
Leszek Możdżer's piano recital
Ballet In the Night to Fryderyk Chopin's music; choreography by Jerome
Robbins. The performers: The Mariinsky Ballet from Saint Petersburg.
Andrzej Jagodziński Trio's jazz interpretations of Chopin.
Serhiy Salov will play one of Fryderyk Chopin's solo compositions during
a concert featuring trumpeter Tine Thing Helset and the Tromsø Camber
Orchestra.
Robert Wells, a Swedish pianist and composer will present his own interpretations of Chopin's compositions as part of the project Rhapsody in Rock
