When Things Cast No Shadow, 5th Berlin Biennial for Contemporary Art, 05 April – 15 June 2008

The exhibition takes place by day and night and is curated by Adam Szymczyk and Elena Filipovic. Artists from different generations and nationalities aim to trace the diversity of art practices today. The exhibition forms and open structure in five movements without a plot.
The day part of the event is to be seen at four distinct venues where it features works by 50 artists. The night part is spread across different locations in the once-divided city and engages even more artists and cultural produces in 63 events. It is entitled Mes nuits sont plus belles que vos jours (My nights are more beautiful than your days). The visitors can expect experiments, lectures, workshops and film screenings throughout the city.
During the day it is possible to take part in the events in KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Neue Nationalgalerie, Skulpturenpark Berlin_Zentrum and Schinkel Pavillon. Films, installations, sculptures, outdoor exhibitions and solo shows are to be hosted by the above mentioned venues. A comprehensive publication including a visual and textual anthology of source material submitted by participating artists was released. The visitors guided tours program Secret Service is also available.
