(2009 05 22 12:03)
The event marks the 30th anniversary of Norwegian Association for Art Societies, one of its organisers. It's composed of three parts: an exhibition, a seminar and a publication.
“Trash art – Found objects” are two different and important practices in contemporary art based on the reuse and recycling of discarded objects. The exhibition initiates questions and discussions concerning contemporary art in a globalised world. Nowadays recycling is a key word and a global phenominon in political, environmental and economic spheres of life. It also evokes cultural and social discussions. The head curator of the exhibition is Samir M’kadmi.
The publication connected with the exhibition presents the artists taking part in the project, as well as related theoretical texts from Norwegian and international writers. It is both in Norwegian and English. The list of artist include: Roddy Bell (Scotland/Norway), Donna Conlon (Panama), Safaa Erruas (Morocco), Jon Gundersen (Norway), Vigdis Haugtrø and Johannes Franciscus de Gier (Norway, Netherlands/Norway), Roza Ilgen (Turkey/Norway), Bill Morrison (USA), Olga Robayo (Colombia/Norway) and Liu Wei (China).
The exhibition will be presented in Alta Kunstforening from 5 to 27 September.
