The Contemporary Art Centre (CAC) Vilnius is launching the "CAC Reading Room" designed by the Amsterdam-based architects and designers Anouk Vogel, Johan Selbing, and Bart Guldemond. In 2008 the CAC organised the competition for young architects to select the best design of the reading space. Then the winners developed the project, which is an “indoor garden”. A new venue is perfectly suited for reading, talking, and the presentation of social, educational and contemporary art events.

Together with the launch of the Reading Room the CAC also expanded its library, including a number of magazine and journal titles, especially on theory of culture and philosophy.
The CAC director Mr. Kestutis Kuizinas comments: “The dynamic design of the space also continues a tradition that the CAC has established for pushing boundaries of architecture and display in its spaces and exhibitions. I am also pleased that the furniture designed for the space was specially fabricated in Lithuania and the hand-decoration adorning the chairs was made in association with students from the Vilnius Art Academy, which continues the CAC's practice of combining leading-edge international and local art and design in its programs".
