ARS BALTICA representatives participated in the "Think Future - Do Now" conference in Visby dedicated to children's culture. ARS BALTICA projects reflect different cultural needs and interests present in the Region. Thus an important position in the network of the projects targeted at children and the youth and/or those based on children’s own creation.
Ambassador Christer Persson, Chairman of CSO, CBSS, noticed this fact in his speech opening the conference:
"I would especially like to mention the work of one of the members of the CBSS family, namely the Ars Baltica which is associated with three cultural beacon projects in the region: 1. The International Competition of Young Pianists from the Baltic Sea Countries – dedicated to the work of Work of F. Chopin in Narva, Estonia; 2. The International Festival of Young Musicians in Kaunas, Lithuania and 3. the Oulu/Uleåborg International Film Festival in Finland.
These three festivals bring together participants and children from many countries inside and outside of the region. They open our children’s eyes to the world of image and sound of established artistic tradition and emergent voice. Animation, fiction and documentary blend seamlessly in an interdisciplinary way making these projects both exciting and innovative."

While thinking about the future role of the culture in the Region one of the obvious steps is to take good care of children’s culture today. Accordingly, the network's activities involving the youth and children’s culture will be given even stronger emphasis. ARS BALTICA representatives participating in this conference seized this occasion for establishing new contacts, discussing new possibilities of co-operation and finding new projects for the network.
