folkBALTICA Festival, 9-13 April
The 4th folkBALTICA Festival, hosted by Flensburg and the German-Danish region of Sønderjylland-Schleswig, showcases the music culture of the countries surrounding the Baltic Sea, with over 100 artists appearing on 24 stages. After Norway, Sweden and Finland, the 2008 festival will be focusing on Estonia

The festival provides opportunity for getting into contact, motivates communication and discussion, and all this not only for the professional audience and participants, the international experts (i.e. archaeologists, filmmakers, heads of museums and other institutions, journalists): it also succeeds to attract a broader public by offering an attractive programme of general interest.
European Festival of the First Novel 29 May - 1 June 2008
New, previoulsy untranslated literature from ten or more European countries will be presented for the sixth year running, offering opportunities for literary exchanges, for the meeting of literary talents, publishers, translators and critics. So far the following countries already confirmed their participation: France, Germany, Denmark, Spain and Switzerland.
JazzBaltica 2008, 2 to 6 July 2008
The motto for this year's jazz-festival will be “on sax”. “Artist in Residence” 2008 will be Joe Lovano, the famous US-American tenor-sax player. On all three concert-days in Salzau, he will perform with different musicians. There will be concerts in Husum, Luebeck, Kiel (opening session) and, of course, Salzau castle
