JazzBaltica 2008, 2 - 6 July 2008 :: Husum, Luebeck, Kiel, Salzau

JazzBaltica 2008 is focused on one of the most important instruments of jazz music: the saxophone. The motto for this year's jazz-festival is “on sax”. There will be concerts in Husum, Luebeck, Kiel (opening session) and, traditionally, in the Salzau castle. “Artist in Residence” 2008 is Joe Lovano, the famous US-American tenor-sax player. On all three concert-days in Salzau he will perform with various musicians.

In addition, JazzBaltica 2008 will celebrate the 90th birthday of Hank Jones and the 70th birthday of Steve Kuhn. JazzBaltica will initiate the birthday festivities for Hank Jones.

Beyond the focus on the saxophone, the great European-African SongNight promises to be a breathtaking music experience: The Kiel high-flyer Milla Kay and the ethno-soul sensation Asa from Nigeria will bring a velvety timbre and an abundance of soul spirit to JazzBaltica.
