The festival was born as an initiative aimed to create a regular cultural event on the Lithuanian coast and in the Capital, and was meant to attract audiences of both cities and present them with a unique cinema feast.

Over nine years the festival has shown more than 1000 films and provided an opportunity for over 90,000 viewers to meet and interact with directors, producers and film critics from 20 countries. In 2003 the festival joined the European Open Air Screenings Association and in 2005 became a member of the European Coordination of Film Festivals. Its venues range from Klaipëda and Ventë Horn to Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevëţys, Alytus, Điauliai, Palanga and Trakai.

This year the International Short Film Festival Tinklai embraces Kaunas, Panevetys as well as Diauliai.

-You will be able to watch 120 short films, including those which have won e.g. Oscars and awards at other film festivals as Cannes, Oberhausen, Rotterdam (1000 awards in total).
-One of the greatest opportunities will be to watch 9 of the best short films, which either were nominated or awarded with Oscars during the last decade.

-There will be the Dazzle Short Film Label’s (UK) presentation of snappy and startling programme Cherry Lipstick which was compiled of films made by female filmmakers.

-film selection of the Europe’s 1^st digital satellite TV channel Propeller TV

- films of young and experienced filmmakers from the Basque Film Library, National Film Centre of Latvia, Estonian Film Fund, Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing and the Polish Film Institute

- 7 Basque short films of the Anniversary Programme of the Basque Film Library, awarded by 230 awards in total

- selected most interesting new British, Irish, German, Swedish, Norwegian and Finish films

- an open-air screening of selected short films- 2-5. 09. in M. Tilinskas gallery square

- Students of Vilnus and their guests will be able to watch the open-air cinema in the Vilnus University’s yard- 5^th September.

- all night screenings in the yard of The Teatchers House in Vilnius- 5^th September

- movies till down in Film Centre Skalvija- 6^th and 12-13^th September.
