International Contemporary Literature Forum "Nordic Summer"
(2008 02 05 15:31)International Contemporary Literature Forum "Nordic Summer" is arranged on a regular basis every year and is considered as one of the most interesting literature events in the Baltic Sea Region. The Forum is based on discussions and speeches on contemporary matters, literature readings, jazz evenings and other cultural arrangements, joined by the famous contemporary writers from all over the world.
The ‘Nordic Summer’ was designed as a meeting spot for the writers, editors, publishers, literature critics from the Baltic Sea Region and other interested countries. The project launched by the Baltic Culture Fund and Jurbarkas Country Museum aims to give the participants opportunity to discuss, create fruitful contacts and to get acquainted with the contemporary issues in literature as well as to present current writing to the publicity and publishers.
Each year, as a result of the forum some of the participating authors are translated and published in other countries.
The goal of the forum is to provoke a discussion about the relations between the Nordic, Baltic and other countries’ contemporary literature. The organizers underline that through literature we can as well talk about cultural, political, social and economical issues of modern world.
