19th International Open Air Blues Festival
(2008 02 15 14:54)
15-18 May, Eutin Germany
One of the most recognised blues festivals in Europe, with about half of the featured artists from the Baltic Sea Region. A unique fact is the free admission for everybody. Located at the market square of Eutin, the festival is a most welcome and well known part of the cultural life of the whole region. Additionally the historic windmill Eutin takes part in the festival. When the concerts on the market square are over, the windmill is the place to be for club concerts and sessions- sometimes until sunrise.
Open-air and absolutly live the Bluesfest celebrates the roots of the popular musicstyles as authentic music. In the past there perfprmed, for example, Rhythm´n´Blues“, „Kansas City Swingblues“, „Delta-“ „Chicago-“, „Jumpblues“ „Texasstyle“, „Brit-Bluesrock“, „Cajun“, “Zydeco”, „Westcoast“, „Louisiana Swamp Blues“ or „Boogie“. Side by side with the big names, the Bluesfest introduces really talented young musicians.
The guiding principles are mainly the following:
- to present top blues musicians,
- to assure that about half of the featured artists are from the Baltic Sea Region,
- to charge NO admission fee and
- to especially attract young/youth people to this kind of live music.
In the period from autumn to spring indoor-concerts are presented at the “Alte Mühle”, Eutin, that
follow these same principles with the only exception not being admission free.
For further details see the festival’s website.
