International Contemporary Dance Festival New Baltic Dance '08

The International Contemporary Dance Festival “New Baltic Dance” during 11 years of existence became one of the main and most prestigious dance festivals in the Baltic Sea area. In 1997 it gathered participants mostly from post-Soviet countries where contemporary dance had just been only starting. Since the first festival, the geography of the guests participants had expanded – festival has presented companies from all Nordic and Baltic countries, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Israel, Canada, Slovenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Poland.
Program of the festival includes famous productions of well-established companies with famous productions as well as new young companies/choreographers and their experimental works. One of the main principles of the Festival is to present the most recent productions (usually not more than 12 months old), thus the event is open for premieres, post-premieres and works in progress. The Festival also provides the opportunity for the Lithuanian choreographers to present their newest works (mostly premieres).
