The Anna Lindh Foundation and its Spanish network, the IEMed, invite young people up to 30 years old from the Euro-Mediterranean region to participate in the International Short Story Contest “A Sea of Words”.
The project takes place within the framework of the
1001 Actions for Intercultural Dialogue. It is to contribute to to fostering dialogue between cultures, exchange of knowledge and experiences between different local and national traditions
The goal of the contest is the selection of the best short stories relating to intercultural dialogue as an instrument for the resolution of contemporary issues in the Euro-Mediterranean space: especially of a political, socio-cultural, economic and environmental nature. The short stories, of no more than 2,500 words, must be written in any of the official languages of the participating countries and must be unpublished works.
The national networks of the Anna Lindh Foundation will form national juries, which will pre-select the best stories from each country and have them translated into English. Then, the international jury will select the 30 best works from those pre-selected which will be included in a book published by the Anna Lindh Foundation and the IEMed. Among the 30 authors chosen for the publication, the international jury will then select the 10 winners of the contest.
Deadline: midnight on 15th of March 2008.
