Culture in the EU External Relations, 13-14 May 2008, Ljubljana, Slovenia
(2008 04 14 14:29)
The international conference "New Paradigms, New Models" focuses on the European Union’s neighbouring countries in the Western Balkans and on the European and Mediterranean members of the European Neighbourhood Policy. During the conference arts networks and artists, cultural relations organisations, cultural commentators, officials from Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the European Commission and the European Parliament will discuss important questions concerning integration of the arts into the European Union’s external relations.
The aim of the conference is to engage participants from the neighbouring countries and to influence the future direction and implementation of the new strategy; to share ideas and develop new partnerships. Words of the President of the European Commission from May 2007 “Culture and creativity touch the daily lives of citizens” could be treated as the meeting’s motto.
The conference is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia in cooperation with the European Commission, the European Cultural Foundation and the Austrian and Dutch foreign ministries.
It is also possible to take part in three workshops on the Western Balkans scheduled to take place before the conference on 12 May 2008.
The participation by invitation only. The deadline for the registration is 18 April 2008
